Belong, Behave, Believe

Reversing the typical order of entry into faith—you belong even before you believe.

When thinking about what makes a person a Christian, we often start with belief. Someone must confess a faith in Jesus, then learns what’s expected of their behavior as a Christian, and finally they find belonging in a community with other Christians. But Jesus didn’t work that way, nor does the pattern work for many on the outskirts of the church today. We’re going to explore the ways in which Jesus lived out a gospel of homecoming and modeled the primary need for and power of belonging, even before we know what it is exactly we believe or how we’re to behave.
