Written to tackle heresy head-on, the epistle of 1 John is an example of pastoral care and love. Covering major themes through the text, Pastor Jason Boothe presents the text, explaining how 1 John is to be understood in light of the "commandment," that we believe on Christ whom God has sent. May God's elect in Christ be blessed and encouraged in their daily walk through these uplifting messages.

Oftentimes this passage of Scripture is used to describe those who merely slack off attending church services. However, the Apostle John is saying so much more to the church in these verses as he describes the dark motivations of false teachers. The comfort afforded in this passage is glorious: God's people have been given an anointing from the Holy Spirit, the power to know the Gospel (or a counterfeit) when they hear it.
