Sermon Podcast of Colossians 3

Series: The Book of Colossians

What does it mean to take off my old self and put on the new self that Jesus offers me ? One of the clearest signs that I am a sinner is how annoyed I get when people talk about sin. I don’t want to hear it. I want to change the topic. I start to question their motives, tell myself they are judgmental and self righteous. Paul has waited till chapter 3 to talk about sin because he wants his hearer’s to know that he cares about them, that he wants to seem them succeed, that he is for them. It is exactly because he wants them to flourish that he warns them about the destructive nature of sin. Join us as we dig into the hard, difficult, beautiful, hopeful message of Paul in Colossians 3:1-17

2   Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

For you have a new life – in Jesus

5     So put to death your old sinful ways

6                     Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

7                                             You used to walk in these ways

8                                             But now you must rid yourselves of all such things

9   Take off the clothes of your old sinful practices

10                     And clothe yourselves with the practices of a Heavenly citizen

15    Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts

16    Let the word of Christ dwell in you

17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
