GIDEON - Part Three

(Journal) Judges 7:1-8

Big Idea:  I must fight the temptation to take credit for anything good…. 

To God be the glory!

1.  Turn to God for courage.

(Journal) Judges 7:9-14

Psalm 118:8-9, It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.

Philippians 3:4b, If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more…. 

2.  Trust God for strategy.

(Journal) Judges 7:15-18

Isaiah 55:8-9, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 8:28, And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

3.  Praise God for victory.

(Journal) Judges 7:19-25

Deuteronomy 8:10-11, And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land He has given you. “Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments and His rules and His statutes, which I command you today,

1st John 5:4-5, For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1st Thessalonians 2:6a, Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others…. 

Next Step:  Give credit where credit is due by being motivated to please God.

Psalm 115:1, Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness!
