God Is at Work

Series: Right in God's Eyes

August 20, 2023
Frank Foreman

John 1:14, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. ---------- Samson's birth illustrated God's work for His purpose and His people on many levels. God has an innate ability to take the lives of individuals and their circumstances to affect major change for many people. ---------- Such was the case with Samson. His parents had no idea they were going to have a son and the plan that God would have for him. Yet, God's purpose for that baby was to deliver His people from the oppression. It was not unlike another baby, born in Bethlehem to deliver his people from the oppression and punishment of sin.

Episode Notes

Big Idea: The birth of Samson displays God’s work in many levels….

At the same time, God works in individuals, families, and nations.

1.  God knows what is necessary to turn us back to Him.

(Journal) Judges 13:1, And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, so the LORD gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.

2nd Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

2.  God cares about the things that burden our hearts.

(Journal) Judges 13:4-5, Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.

1st Peter 5:6-7, Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

3.  God is personally involved in our stories of deliverance.

(Journal) Judges 13:22, And Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, for we have seen God.”

1st Peter 4:14, If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

Next Step: Consider your relationship with God….

He knows, He cares, He is personally involved….

How personally involved are you?

John 1:14, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
