Last Days

Series: The Gospel Can't Be Contained

February 20, 2022
Frank Foreman

Are we currently in the "Last Days"? There is always speculation about the return of Christ with so called experts determining such things by signs or prophetic formulas that have been concocted. But the truth is, it is merely human explanation. ---------- Of course, if we choose to move out of the realm of speculation, we can choose instead to see what God's Word says about these "Last Days," including the very words of Jesus Christ. ---------- Frank shares a message from Mark 13 this week. We do not believe he will be sharing any specific dates or predictions. Instead, he will be looking specifically at the promises of God through Christ and how important those promises are to us.

Episode Notes

(Journal) Mark 13:1-23

Matthew 24:36, But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

Big Idea:  Everyone lives within the promises of God….

Trust Him and that His promises are true.

Hebrews 10:23, Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

1.  Promise of judgement.

2nd Thessalonians 1:7b-10, ….when the Lord Jesus is revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might, when He comes on that day to be glorified in His saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

Hebrews 9:27-28, And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.

2.  Promise of hope.

Titus 2:11-14, For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous for good works.

1st Peter 1:3-7, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in Heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Next Step:  Obey the Gospel….

The Good News is that while I deserve judgement and hell….

Through Christ I have the hope of Heaven.

May God’s love for me compel me to love others.
