Mother's Day 2017 ... What was truly at the heart of Hannah's prayers for a son? Was it honor she was seeking? Was it simply a woman longing to be a mother? Or was it something deeper, something more spiritual. Frank dives into the story of Hannah and Samuel and reminds us of the incredible importance of dedication and desire of a Christian mom for her children.

Episode Notes

1. Hannah's LONGING to be a mother was a noble aspiration.

1st Samuel 1:11, And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your servant and remember me and not forget Your servant, but will give to Your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.”

2.  Hannah received RIDICULE for not having children.

1st Samuel 1:6-7, And her rival used to provoke her grievously to irritate her, because the Lord had closed her womb. So it went on year by year. As often as she went up to the house of the Lord, she used to provoke her. Therefore Hannah wept and would not eat.

3.  Hannah's PRAYERS were at the center of her life.

1st Samuel 1:17, 19, Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to Him.” And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her.

Matthew 11:28, Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

1st Peter 5:7, ...casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

Psalm 62:8, Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.

Hannah discovered that PREPARING a child for a life of service to God is the highest CALLING of a mother.
