SALVATION
HEBREWS 2:3

TEXT VERSE:
Heb 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

The purpose of this series is to help the new Christian as well as the older Christian Bible student to rejoice in "so great a salvation"

1. THE AWAKENING                     "REGENERATION"
2. THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT     "REPENTANCE"
3. THE APPROPRIATION              "FAITH"
4. THE APPLICATION                    "JUSTIFICATION"
5. THE ACTIVATION                      "SANCTIFICATION"

FAITH

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Heb 11:2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith is the channel or conduit that God's grace flows freely to all man kind. It is the means by which grace is appropriated or received. Faith brings delight in to God and salvation to us. By faith God is perceived and faith the believer is pardoned.
1-There are 3 virtues FAITH, HOPE and LOVE. Only love remains eternal.Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Rom 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Faith is the capacity of the human heart by which the nature of God, the gift of salvation and the eternal purpose of the Almighty are understood. Faith is embedded in hope and is the predecessor to sight. it envisions the impossible and accepts the incredible. Faith is uniquely a human capacity but is naturally rejected by the heart because of sin. Faith is the only key that will unlock the release of mankind from condemnation for his sin and that will grant eternal salvation.

2-The nature of faith is defined by 3 types.
A- Factual Faith: Everyone one of us has this type of faith even the most devouted atheist. "Seeing Is Believing" This is the type of faith Jesus basically told Thomas he had in John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
B-Temporay Faith: It flares up quickly, just like in a time of crisis but fails to endure.
Mat 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
C-Saving Faith:
1- The Source of Saving Faith-The Word of God
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith is born of the seed of the Word even the size of the grain of the mustard seed.
1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
Also is by faith that we grow in the Lord and learn to depend on Him.
1Pe 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

2-The Substance or Meat of Faith
The information of two responses by the believer. First of all there is:
Acknowledgement is the loss of our own self confidence in any abililty to save ourselves. This is when the stirring of Salvation begins. This when we as the sinner turn in faith to God who alone can save us.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Act 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Appropriation or Substitution for our salvation is through Christ and Christ alone. From the Cross, To the Grave, To the Resurrection and now seated at the right hand of God the Father.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Saving faith receives God's gift of Eternal life.
Joh 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
The source of faith is the Word and the substance of faith is faith is action.
Faith acts obediently to the commandments of God and lives victoriously in the blessings of God.
Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
