Repent or Perish

How are we to respond to tragedies that we see on the news or read about in the paper or online? How are we to react to the bad things that happen to us, whether they were our fault or not? In our Gospel text from Luke 13:1-9, Jesus gives us the answer: repent. There will come a day when it will be too late. Judgment Day is at hand. But you, Christian, have nothing to fear. Jesus has already judged you, and his judgment is this: I forgive you.
