The Stubborn Gatherer

Series: Lent 2019

March 17, 2019
Rev. Jake Allstaedt

The text for this sermon, Luke 13:31-35, is rich with Old Testament connections and imagery. God's people had continuously refused to be gathered under His wings. They refused to let God be God to them, trusting in idols instead. God sent prophet after prophet to them, but they would not listen. Eventually, God sent His Son, but they refused to listen to Him as well. As stubborn as God's people are (and as stubborn as we all are in our own unique ways), God is even more stubborn in His grace and forgiveness. He gathers His people to protect them and provide for them. He is one fiercely protective God.
