Jonah was a man of God and had preached the Word of God, but then God made a request that was totally counter-cultural to him. God wanted him to preach salvation to his enemies. That was not done in Jonah’s culture. He thought enemies were to be destroyed, not saved. But God invited Jonah to view the world through His eyes and this will quietly shatter Jonah’s worldview. What happens to us when God asks us to do something that is counter-cultural? Do we balk because others will think that we are too different?
